Fr. Gerard is on his bike again!
New priest for Fahan, Inch and Burt parish

After just over three years as a curate in the parish of Fahan, Inch and Burt, Fr. Gerard Sweeney is hitting the road again.
An enthusiastic motorcyclist, Fr. Sweeney (48) has been promoted in the latest Derry Diocese clerical shake-up and is set to become the new parish priest at Newtownstewart.
Fr. Sweeney, who arrived in Inishowen from Derry’s Waterside in August 2010, is expected to say his goodbyes this weekend before taking up his new role in the County Tyrone town next week.
He will be replaced by Dominican Father Frankie Lynch, who is originally from Lifford but has spent more than a decade living and working in South America.
Ordained in 1990, Fr. Lynch, a fluent Spanish speaker aged in his early fifties, worked at parishes in Argentina, Bolivia and Peru before returning to Ireland in 2004 for an appointment at Sligo.
He is currently at Dungiven in County Derry but is expected to arrive in Inishowen in the coming days.
