The Buncrana GAA ladies made history last Sunday week when they won their first ever county title, beating Naomh Columba in the Junior B final on a scoreline of 5-10 to 1-10.
Two goals from Maired Walsh and one each from Michalea Mullan, Martina Mullan and Niamh Connolly were enough to seal an emphatic victory for the girls in what was only their second season together as a team.
Spaking to the Inishowen Independent their coach Laurence Hegerty was glowing in his praise for the girls, “These girls have trained twice a week since Jaunary with good numbers turning up every night. They took on board everything that was asked of them and I am delighted for every one of them because I know how much work they put in to achieve this”.
Next season the girls will make the step up to Junior A and look to build on what they have achieved this season with the ultimate aim being a shot at the senior championship in a few years time.
