Scouting News
Last weekend, the local group hosted the County Forum over two days in the Colgan Hall. This forum allows the Scouts from all over the county to have their say. There will also be elections for county representatives. Beavers enjoyed a trip to the Clonmany Waterfall this week, while Cubs were busy on a treasure hunt around the town.

Xmas plans come together
Preparations for the Christmas celebrations in Carndonagh are underway following the AGM of the Christmas Tree committee last Tuesday. A special effort to celebrate 40 years is planned. Officers elected for 2013/14 are Hon. President Gabriel Duffy, Chairperson Mr Laurence Kelly, secretary Anne McNicholl, Treasurer Oliver McLaughlin and PRO Albert Doherty.

Carn FC ‘200 Club’
Carn FC is looking for 200 people to sign up to paying €20 per month for 12 months (October-September 2014) to enter a monthly draw with guaranteed prizes of €1,000, €600 and €400. If you pay €200 up front, you will get 12 monthly draws for the price of €10. This club is limited to 200 members and places will be issued on a first come-first served basis. Da Capo Concert Series
Promoting high quality, live classical music in Inishowen, our new season starts on Sunday 13 October during the Macklin Festival, in St Buadan’s church, Culdaff, at 4pm, with Cassiopeia Winds playing music from Danzi, Nielsen, McLachlan and Hindemith. Sunday, 20 October, in the same venue, sees the Donegal Camerata play popular works from Mozart, Brahms, Britten and Bartok, at 3pm. Tickets €10/€7 Concession. 074938 3734 for information.

Donegal Music Education Partnership choir
First meeting of Inishowen Junior (7-10 year olds) and Intermediate (11-13 year olds) choirs Wednesday 9 October 4-5.30pm in Room 200 (main building) of Carndonagh Community School. Choirs will be led by Siobhan Shiels. Annual membership fee of €100. For information, 074 917 6293.

Lifeline (Inishowen) Domestic Violence Service is starting a volunteers training programme in November. Contact Caroline on 074 937 3337 10am–1pm. Cancer Support Group
Would like to thank all those who supported the quiz in Simpson’s Bar, the management and quizmaster. €530 was raised. This will go towards providing a free counselling service for those affected by cancer – a family member, friend, carer or someone with a cancer diagnosis. Calling All Budding Musicians

Quiz In Aid Of Cancer Care West
Lake of Shadows Hotel, Buncrana on Thursdays 17 October at 9pm. Cancer Care West is a Galway hospice for patients receiving cancer treatments. The quiz will be hosted by Mr Jimmy McCay and there will also be a raffle on the night for many prizes kindly donated by local businesses.
