Derry City look to strengthen links with Inishowen
The Derry City under 19s will play Letterkenny Rovers this Saturday afternoon in a home game in Maginn Park, Buncrana.
When contacted by the Inishowen Independent this week, City coach Eddie Seydak admitted that the club are trying to build more links with Inishowen to try and uncover the next Stephen McLaughlin, Mark Farren or Gareth McGlynn. “We already have some tremendous links with Inishowen and try to work very closely with the Inishowen Academy with people like Stephen McNutt, Diarmuid O’Brien and Jim McConnell.”
They have also gone a step further just recently by taking Buncrana Hearts man Gary Duffy on board and Seydak was quick to highlight the role that Duffy will play. “We have brought Gary in and he has done really well since joining and is currently managing the under 19 side who will be looking to finish in the top two in our section to qualify for the elite section next season.”
Seydak was also quick to praise the standard of the pitches in Inishowen, “although we are certainly trying to build our links with Inishowen, one of the other reasons for us coming to Inishowen is because we cannot find a pitch suitable to play our typical passing game in Derry.”
