Gardaí close in on Derry murder suspect

Gardaí at Burnfoot searching for Kieran McLaughlin, the man wanted by the PSNI for questioning about yesterday’s murder of Barry McCrory in Derry, have surrounded a house where the fugitive is thought to be holed up.
Members of the Garda’s Armed Response Unit are on the scene which is in the townland of Gortcormican and the road, known locally as the Brae Road, has been closed since approximately 5pm.
In an unusual move, the PSNI released a photograph of 58 year old McLaughlin asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.
Members of the public were told not to approach Mr McLaughlin.
Barry McCrory was murdered on Derry’s Shipquay Street yesterday, Thursday.
Burnfoot is just six miles from Derry.
**Update**
Latest reports suggest a helicopter has arrived at the scene, while an ambulance has also been escorted to the Garda barricade on the Brae Road.
