Jobless figure reaches five year low in Inishowen

The number of people out of work in Inishowen is at its lowest level for almost five years.
The latest Central Statistics Office figures have revealed a total of 4,075 people signing on at the Buncrana social welfare at the end of September, the lowest number since January 2009.
The current jobless total is 250 down on the previous month of August and almost 1,200 less than the highest ever month here in July 2010, when 5,256 were on the Live Register.
Meanwhile the Economic and Social Research Institute said that improving jobs figures will boost economic growth next year.
The think tank said that unemployment will continue to fall next year and consumer spending will increase.
“There are real jobs being created and that is a really good indicator of what is going on with the economy,” the ESRI said.
