McGonigle joins McGuinness’ management team

He would have been tuning into RTÉ tonight anyway for the 2014 Ulster Championship draw, but Paul McGonigle has even more reason to be interested in learning who Donegal’s first round opponents will be next year.
McGonigle was last week announced as one of three selectors added to Jim McGuinness’ management team after the departure of Rory Gallagher and Maxi Curran.
McGonigle, along with former Donegal players Damien Diver (Ardara) and John Duffy (Aodh Ruadh), met with Jim McGuinness and an extended panel of almost 40 players in Letterkenny last weekend.
“To be honest, it was a low-key meeting that was more about organising things and setting some ground rules ahead of next year,” McGonigle said.
“It wasn’t all that different from what you’d do at club level before the start of a new season.”
“Players will be given individual programmes to follow over the winter months, but the squad is very much provisional and will be open to others to join.”
