Moville are All Ireland Sevens Winners

It was a proud day for the Gaelic footballers of Moville on Saturday when they came away from Dublin with the All Ireland sevens shield title.
The team of ten Moville men who were managed by Robert Farren where drawn in a difficult group which included, Blessington (Wiclow), Robertstown (Kildare), Dundrum (Down) and Kiltane (Mayo). Moville finished third in their group having beaten both Blessington and Robertstown and being defeated by Dundrum and Kiltane respectively.
The team then went forward to contest the shield quarter final in which they saw off last year’s winners Clonmore (Offaly) on a scoreline of 4-11 to 4-8.
That result gave the Moville men the belief that having been able to dispose of the previous year’s champions they could actually go on and win the tournament.
Next up was a semi final against the host team St.Judes (Dublin) which, the Inishowen men won comfortably on a scoreline of 4-5 to 1-3.
The final against St James (Cork) was a very close affair, which hung in the balance for long periods but thankfully the local side came out on the right side winning by two points 2-9 to 2-7.
