Murder Hunt: Burnfoot House Was Empty

Chief suspect remains at large
Gardai in Dublin have confirmed that the house they had surrounded in Burnfoot through the night was unoccupied.
Following a murder in Derry on Thursday, armed Gardai and the Irish Army had surrounded the property in the townland of Gortcormican some three miles from Burnfoot village at 5pm yesterday evening but by 4am this morning it had become clear that the house was empty.
The hunt for Barry McCrory’s murderer continues with chief suspect Kieran McLaughlin (pictured) still at large. Victim McCrory (35) was gunned down in a flat on Derry’s Shipquay Street, a busy shopping thoroughfare, shortly before 11am on Thursday.
In an unusual move, the PSNI on Friday released a photograph of suspect 58-year-old McLaughlin asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.
Members of the public were told not to approach the suspect.
