Calls for Inishowen roads upgrade and speed increase

Greencastle – Muff, Bridgend – Buncrana and Carn to Quigley’s Point roads on National Primary hit list
AN Inishowen councillor has called for three roads in the peninsula to be upgraded to National Primary status after the Council revealed they spent €4.7 million on improving and upgrading roads in 2013.
Speaking at the meeting of the Inishowen Electoral Area in Carn on Tuesday, Culdaff councillor Bernard McGuinness proposed that they should ask the Minister to upgrade the main Greencastle – Muff road, the Bridgend – Buncrana road and the Carn – Quigley’s Point road to National status as he believes they are missing out on funding. He said he “had no doubt” that all three roads should be National Primary and are up to standard.
The Fine Gael councillor said “successive governments” have ignored calls to upgrade the Bridgend to Buncrana road, which he said “at one point was the busiest road in the county”, adding that it was “scandalous” that it was not a National Primary route yet.
