Local charity to benefit from home raffle
The lucky family, which won a house in a raffle for iCARE in 2006, is once again offering the same property as the prize in a draw designed to raise funds for the Inishowen-based autism charity.
Seven years ago, iCARE ran a draw with the first prize being a house in Mulberry Avenue. The winner was Carleen McLaughlin. She and her family have now decided to move on but they are once again offering the house as an amazing prize.
Carleen explained: “We are currently building a new house so we decided that iCARE should benefit. We will sell the house we won for a set price back to iCARE and then whatever extra money is raised by the draw will go to straight to the charity.”
“We have been blessed to live mortgage-free for the past seven years and we felt that we should do something to benefit iCARE. We hope that they can make as much money again as they did the first time around,” she added.
iCARE chair Angela Tourish said the charity is delighted to acquire the house once more. She said she hopes the Inishowen public backs the upcoming draw, with tickets set to go on sale at €20 on November 28 next.
