Inishowen is feeling good with latest award!

Top honour for local initiative
An Inishowen initiative has won a top award at the All-Ireland Pride of Place Awards 2013.
‘Feel Good Fortnight’, organised by suicide prevention group Insight Inishowen, was honoured at a ceremony in Derry last Saturday.
Judges presented the dynamic group with a special award recognising ‘Feel Good Fortnight’ as a uniquely positive project that has the potential to be duplicated in different communities around the country.
The brainchild of Insight Inishowen vice-chair Denise Gallanagh Wood, ‘Feel Good Fortnight’ has brought ‘two weeks of sunshine whatever the weather’ for the past two years.
Bringing together individuals, community groups, local businesses, artists, schools and public sector workers, the programme has received a ringing endorsement from locals and visitors alike. And now it has been recognised nationally!
“We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. ‘Feel Good Fortnight’ was fabulous and that was because the whole community got on board,” Denise said.
“This award is for all of us: for the committee and for the dozens of volunteers and supporters who helped to make ‘Feel Good Fortnight’ possible. This shows what is possible when people come together to build happier and healthier communities,” she added.
Insight Inishowen will celebrate this special achievement on Monday, December 9 next at The Exchange, Castle Avenue, Buncrana. All are welcome to attend the event, which will feature the premiere of the 2013 ‘Feel Good Fortnight’ documentary film.
