Urris residents work together to benefit all of Inishowen
LESS than one week after work was complete to open up Mamore Gap to coach tours from across Europe, an Inishowen councillor claims that the work has had the “desired effect instantly”.
Buncrana councillor Rena Donaghey said that after seeing coverage of the road improvements last Friday a major coach tour operator has already been in touch about extending their tours into Inishowen, while another mini bus group from Belfast travelled to Urris on Saturday and spent the day in the peninsula.
For years Mamore Gap wasn’t accessible to coaches due to the poor conditions, despite it being one of the greatest attractions in the peninsula but in an attempt to attract more tourists a savvy group of locals got together and decided to make improvements on the road to enable coaches to travel over the Gap.
Cllr. Donaghey said it is great they are yielding results so soon after work was complete.
