Pedestrian dies after Carndonagh accident

70 year old struck by car just yards from her home

A 70 year old woman knocked down in Carndonagh last evening, Monday, has died.

The married local woman was struck by a car near her home at Molly’s Brae, Churchtown, Carndonagh, shortly before 6pm and sustained serious head injuries.

She was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry but died before midnight.

The driver of the car, a 40 year old man, was not injured.

The Buncrana Road in Carndonagh in closed as Garda forensic collision investigators are carrying out an examination of the area.
