Accident-free Fahan since realignment work

The second of two road traffic collisions at 'The Lookout' corner in Fahan village on Tuesday afternoon. The bend has become an 'accident blackspot' in recent years, causing much concern locally.

DONEGAL County Council have seemingly cracked the problems with car accidents in Fahan after they spent €50,000 realigning the road.

Since the roadworks were carried out before Christmas, there have been no accidents at the infamous Blackspot, according at a local councillor.

Burnfoot councillor John Ryan was delighted to announce at the bi-monthly meeting of the Inishowen Electoral Area in Carn on Tuesday that, after checking with the Gardaí and Fire Service, there have been no reported accidents in Fahan since the work was carried out.

The Fine Gael councillor said this was “incredible” as before the work was carried out there was often “two accidents a day”.
