Ryan, McGuinness, McLaughlin and Doherty seek nomination
Fine Gael party activists will meet this Sunday in the Strand Hotel in Ballyliffin to select candidates for the party for this year’s local government elections.
With the re-organisation of local government there will now be nine seats up for grabs in the Inishowen Electoral Area, up from seven seats previously on offer.
“Head office hasn’t indicated what our strategy will be yet, but there were four names in at the close of nominations last Friday and I expect those will contest the election in May,” Cllr John Ryan said.
The four nominations are the sitting county councillors Bernard McGuinness in north Inishowen, Mickey Doherty in east Inishowen, John Ryan in the south, and outgoing Buncrana Town councillor Peter McLaughlin.
