‘I wish my daddy could see me on Winning Streak’

Moville girl’s dream ticket is tinged with sadness
CHRISTMAS is not a happy time for the Kearney family from Moville but this year that has all changed thanks to an RTE gameshow.
Last Saturday night, Leanne Kearney, her boyfriend Sean McDaid and her mum Kathleen were sitting in watching a film when three of their neighbours in Ard Foyle burst through the door to tell her that she would be appearing on Winning Streak.
Dumbstruck Leanne couldn’t believe it, but for the level-headed 22-year-old there was only one thing on her mind when she heard the news.
“The first thing I said was: ‘I wish my daddy was here’,” said Leanne.
The Moville girl’s father, Gerard Kearney, a popular local taxi man, passed away in March 2011 after an illness, leaving a massive void in Leanne and her mum Kathleen’s life.
