Developer wants to extend height of towering windmills to 280 feet
A total of 445 lorries will travel through Moville bound for a site at Kinnego Bay, where two controversial wind turbines look set to be constructed.
Members of a local lobby group have raised concerns that the trucks could cause considerable damage to the roads in the town as well as rural roads in the Glenagivney area, many of which run directly above local group water schemes.
They claim that a landmark tree, more than one hundred years old, in Moville’s Market Square may have to be cut down to accommodate the cavalcade of lorries with wide loads.
Some locals are also angry that the wind farm developer has recently applied to increase the height of the windmills from 69 metres to 85 metres [280 feet].
