Day of emotion as hundreds turn out in support of Farren

Popular Greencastle man facing last week of radiation treatment
AFTER going through one of the toughest weeks of his life, Saturday was an emotional day for Greencastle man, Mark Farren.
It’s no secret that Mark has had it harder than most 31-year-olds over the past number of years.
After being diagnosed with a benign brain tumour on Christmas Eve in 2008, Farren underwent brain surgery in Liverpool, but in August last year a routine check up revealed that the tumour had returned.
Brain surgery in Belfast in December didn’t go to plan and Farren was informed he had to undergo a course of preventative radiotherapy for six weeks.
But last Saturday a 5k run, which had been organised by his friend and former teammate, Kevin McHugh, gave Mark the boost he needed.
Three hundred of his family, friends and supporters braved the stormy weather (and the steep Killea hills) to show their support for one of Inishowen’s most well known footballers.
