Buncrana pupils hoping for success at Formula One competition
COLÁISTE Chineál Eoghain students are hoping for National success in a unique school project, which has them living in the fast lane.
Seven first and second year pupils in the Buncrana Gaelcholáiste have been working hard for the past two months designing and making their very own mini Formula One car.
The Irish speaking students will compete in the Regional Finals of the prestigious F1 in Schools competition in Castlebar next month. But the students, who came third in the All Ireland competition last year, are hoping for more success this year.
“We’re hoping to do even better than last year,” said Matthew Mullins, graphic designer and second year pupil.
“I was part of one of the teams last year. We had entered two teams last year so we hoping that we can get further with one team this year. It’s a worldwide competition so the winners of the Nationals will go to Abu Dhabi and compete against teams from all over the world.”
