Stormy January makes way for gusty February
High winds are once again lashing Inishowen with the €240,000 repair bill from last month set to rise after early February gusts caused more damage this week.
A stretch of road at Gortnamullan, Malin Head, damaged some weeks ago, has been hit again with further large sections of the tarmac surface washed away by high tides and strong winds.
Another area affected last month, the River Row at Moville, has also sustained fresh damage with the tidal defences breached and local gardens flooded with sea water and debris.
It is understood that there were fresh setbacks too at Lisfannon Beach and the Moville shore walk, although the damage this time was not on the same scale as previously.
January was an especially stormy month with several incidence of high winds recorded at Malin Head weather station.
