Local concerts on the cards for Nadene Fiorentini
A TALENTED young Greencastle musician has narrowly missed out on winning the prestigious Yamaha Music Scholarship and a €2,000 after a tense final on Tuesday evening.
Nadene Fiorentini, 24, having recently been awarded the National Concert Hall’s ‘Rising Star’ of 2014, was over the moon when she was selected as one of the three finalists for the European Award, however the Greencastle woman is determined to use the experience to her advantage.
“I was delighted to have been selected as one of three finalists and of course it would have been an honour to have won the fantastic bursary but, at the end of the day, I view it all as valuable performing experience.
“Hopefully that will stand to me when the time comes to perform at the National Concert Hall next month – The standard was incredibly high and I’m delighted for Eliza (Puchianu – the winner).”
On March 20, the Greencastle Pianist will give her debut solo recital on the main stage of the National Concert Hall after winning The Rising Star Award, which is given annually to promising young Irish musicians.
Nadene will be playing in Magee on Monday, February 17, at 7.30pm while her concert in Letterkenny will be on Saturday, March 1, at 7pm. For more follow the Greencastle girl on Twitter @NFiorentini for more upcoming concerts and recitals.
