Murray welcomes council plan to lay new ‘high grip’ surface
A sweeping bend at Drung, Redcastle is causing some concern locally following a high rate of traffic collisions in recent years.
The deceptively sharp corner, close to Brendan Doherty’s busy filling station, has been made somewhat safer with additional chevron signage and is now in line for ‘high grip’ resurfacing works.
Inishowen councillor Jack Murray, who had campaigned for increased safety measures at the accident blackspot, has welcomed the decision by Donegal County Council to put a new layer of asphalt on the bend.
A candidate for Sinn Fein in the upcoming local elections on May 23 next, Cllr. Murray said he had raised concerns with the council roads team ‘due to a high number of accidents in the past year’.
