Moville’s Fr. Eugene Boland describes process as ‘long and painful’
Fr Eugene Boland, who was cleared of indecent assault charges in 2012, will resume his priestly duties by saying Mass in his County Tyrone parish next Saturday night.
In 2010 Moville born Fr. Boland stepped down after allegations were made against him. In 2012 the priest went on trial facing five charges and after a hearing lasting 8 days he was found not guilty by a jury.
However, Fr. Boland did not resume his duties immediately as the Church had its own processes to go through.
This week it has been confirmed that Fr Boland will be resuming his duties as a priest in his local parish of Killyclogher in County Tyrone.
Fr Francis Bradley, Diocesan Administrator of the Diocese of Derry, said: “I am glad the civil and canonical processes in respect of Fr Eugene Boland have drawn to a close.
“Fr Eugene can now resume the public exercise of the priestly ministry.
“These processes have demanded time and effort on the part of many people. They have been difficult for all involved.”
