Inishowen man benefits from double lung transplant

Quigley’s Point father urges more people here to consider becoming organ donors


A Quigley’s Point man who underwent a life changing double lung transplant in November is urging more people in Inishowen to consider becoming organ donors.

Father of four David Anderson became so short of breath that he could barely make it up the stairs of his home last year but since surgery his life has changed immeasurably.

“By last year I would have been on oxygen for more than sixteen hours per day. I couldn’t walk up any sort of incline and I had to have my tank with me almost everywhere,” he said.

The Drung 49-year-old spent thirteen days recuperating in hospital after coming out of theatre at Dublin’s Mater Hospital.

“I noticed the difference almost immediately, literally within the first couple of days I could feel the difference. It was enormous,” he said.
