Councillor hails one of the town’s most successful ever St. Patrick’s Days
The chairman of the Buncrana St. Patrick’s Day committee has hailed this year’s parade as one of the largest ever in the town.
Cllr. Nicholas Crossan said the annual festivities showcased Buncrana at its very best.
“It was a real community effort, everyone who took part and helped bring the day about deserves great credit,” he said.
“There was a cold wind blowing but the crowds this year were phenomenal, as big as I’ve seen in the thirty years of this parade. Everyone seemed to have a great day and really enjoy themselves,” he added.
Cllr. Crossan said the St. Patrick’s celebrations provided a much-needed boost to business in Inishowen’s largest town.
“I did a quick survey of the town on Monday evening and every premises on the main street, from restaurants, to bars and sweet shops, was packed out. That’s what it’s all about, bringing people into Buncrana,” he said.
