Talented Buncrana teen set for biggest stage role

Crana College pupil hopes to shine in Tennesse Williams drama
A talented Buncrana teenager has landed the lead role in a Derry drama, which opens at the Playhouse Theatre this Saturday, March 1.
Sixteen-year-old Aideen Porter, a fifth year student at Crana College, will walk on stage as the iconic character Blanche Dubois in Tennessee Williams’ classic, ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’.
A daughter of Aiden and Kathleen Porter, from Ballymagan, Buncrana, the budding young actress has been studying music and drama since the age of seven with nerves building ahead of her biggest ever part.
Aideen (pictured above), a pupil of Carmel McCafferty’s School of Speech and Drama in Derry, is currently undertaking her grade seven in drama.
Although she has had several minor roles in plays, musicals and school productions this is Aideen’s first lead role in a major production.
