Great community resource hailed

Buncrana's 'Wee Library' at the Shorefront.

RTE television show ‘Nationwide’ this week featured Buncrana’s Wee Library project, hailing it as a ‘great community resource.’

The show highlighted the benefits of the Wee Library scheme that has seen several boxes erected in the town where people can borrow and swap books.

The show, presented by Eileen Magnier, had a six-minute segment on the scheme and interviewed a range of local people who all had nothing but praise for the Wee Libraries that are dotted around the town, from Swan Park to Ned’s Point to the Shore Front.

The show broadcast footage from last year’s Feel Good Fortnight showing families relaxing in Swan Park and making use of the books available.

Geraldine Timlin who is responsible for the scheme said that it was designed to promote literacy.
