This weekend sees the annual Colgan Heritage weekend, which will feature a range of events and exhibitions.

This year also marks the centenary of John Colgan who the Colgan Hall is named after.

The heritage weekend kicks off on Friday night June 27 with the presentation of prizes by Joe Mahon the presenter of the popular Lesser Spotted Ulster series.

At 7.30pm Mr. Mahon will then perform the official opening on the theme of ‘A century of change’.

At 8pm the newly installed Bishop of Derry Donal McKeown will unveil a new portrait of John Colgan and this will be followed at 8.30 by the guest speaker Dr. Edel Bhreathnach who will talk on ‘The worlds of John Colgan.’ Saturday sees a range of exhibitions including a walk along the old railway line along with Dessie McCallion.
