New initiative to combat crime in Fahan, Inch and Burt

Text alert scheme designed to increase public vigilance
A new text alert initiative involving local Gardai and members of the public has been launched in a bid to combat crime in the Fahan, Inch and Burt community.
The publicly funded scheme, which will see twenty new signs erected, is designed to raise awareness and increase vigilance about possible illegal activity in the area.
“With all the crime and break-ins that were happening we thought it would be a good way to make the area safer,” Inch man Patrick Lynch explained.
With a growing membership of twelve so far, Patrick explained how the warning system works.
“If you see a vehicle that looks suspicious you can ring the number on our signs, through to the local Garda station. The guards will then check out the incident and send an update to our group mobile phone.”
