Emotional homecoming for Buncrana skipper
THE DERRY Clipper received a warm and emotional welcome in Greencastle in the early hours of Monday morning after winning the 15-day race across the Atlantic Ocean from New York.
The heroic crew were welcomed by a good crowd of supporters and family members in Greencastle village around 7.25am.
There were tears and cheers as the Clipper crew sailed close to the banks of the village as emotional family members called to their loved one on the yacht and popped bottles of champagne in their honour.
The journey across the finish line past Inishowen Head and up the Foyle must have been especially emotional by the Clipper skipper and Buncrana man Sean McCarter.
