Dr. McLaughlin opens new Dr. McLaughlin Road!

The family of the late Dr. Denis McLaughlin is ‘over the moon’ that a road has been named in honour of the long-serving Buncrana doctor, who died five years ago.
The sign to officially rename one of the town’s busiest thoroughfares at Ardarvan Square, Buncrana was aptly unveiled by Dr. Denis’ grandson Ronan, who qualified as a doctor in the nick of time for Monday night’s civic ceremony.
“I graduated from Queen’s University last Friday evening so it was a huge honour for me to be able to commemorate granda in this way just three days after my own graduation,” the 24-year-old said.
Ronan said it was fantastic that his grandfather had been honoured for his service to Buncrana over the years.
“I remember that even after he had retired he was completely dedicated to the cause of medicine and helping people,” he said.
Feargal McLaughlin, Dr. Denis’ son and Ronan’s father, said it was nice that Dr. McLaughlin Road was opened by Dr. McLaughlin!
