Day of celebration this Sunday, July 27, from 2-6pm
A family fun day to officially open the final phase of a new €300,000 walkway at the Inch Wildlife Reserve is expected to attract hundreds of locals and visitors this Sunday afternoon.
The completion of the ambitious new eight-kilometre nature trail is the culmination of two years work with the idea for the ambitious path dating back to the mid-1990s.
The new Inch Lake path greatly enhances the nature reserve from an accessibility standpoint with three car parks all leading to different mapped-out walking routes around the lake.
With colourful information boards, bird hides and picnic benches dotted along the way, the scenic walk enhances an area already considered one of the most important bird habitats in the country.
One of those involved in the ambitious regeneration project, Francis Conaghan of Donegal County Council said the newly upgraded Inch Wildfowl Reserve is one of Inishowen’s top attractions.
