Emergency services at the scene in Buncrana yesterday morning.

Emergency services attended the scene of an incident in which a female cyclist was injured in Buncrana last Wednesday.

Gardai confirmed that the woman, aged in her late forties and understood to be from Inishowen, fell off her bike, suffering minor back and head injuries.

The incident happened at 10.45am on Wednesday close to the Ballymacarry roundabout on the outskirts of the town between the Inishowen Gateway Hotel on one side of the road and the fire station on the other.

Fire station personnel quickly attended the scene before an ambulance arrived some twenty minutes later.

Paramedics treated the woman on the road. She was then lifted by stretcher into the ambulance and removed to Letterkenny General Hospital.

The road remained closed for approximately one hour with traffic diverted via nearby McCarter’s Road.
