FOUR local doctors graduate on same day

New physicians will take up posts with NHS
The number of doctors in Inishowen jumped significantly last Friday when four young physicians graduated on the same day.
The quartet, including three new doctors from Buncrana and one from Glengad, completed their medical degrees at Queen’s University in Belfast.
Graduating with honours in medicine, surgery and obstetrics, all four are set to take up various junior posts with the NHS in the North and Scotland in the coming weeks and months.
Grandson of former Buncrana GP Dr. Denis McLaughlin, Dr. Ronan McLaughlin is the son of Caroline and Feargal McLaughlin, from Porthaw Glen, Buncrana. He is set to take up a post at Altnagelvin, beginning later this month.
Dr. Laura Crowley, the daughter of Mary and Richard Crowley, Shorefront, Buncrana has accepted a role in the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen.
The daughter of Mary and Pat O’Regan, from Fahan, Dr. Rhea O’Regan will take up a post in Glasgow.
Dr. Paula Houton, a past pupil of Glengad NS and Carn Community School, will also take up a new role in Glasgow. She is the daughter of Paul and Gertrude, from Portaleen, Glengad.
Both Ronan and Laura previously attended Scoil Iosagain in Buncrana while Rhea is a past primary pupil of St. Mura’s National School in Tooban. All three are also past pupils of Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana.
