“In Aid of Cancer: In Memory of a Loved One”

Charity Walk & Cycle this Saturday
The Inishowen Football league in conjunction with all the clubs are launching a major collective fundraising venture.
Entitled “In Aid of Cancer :In Memory of a Loved One” members of the committee will be joined by at least one member of each of the eighteen clubs in the league to undertake a sponsored 30 mile cycle and ten mile walk on Saturday 16th August 2014.
There is not a club in the peninsula who have escaped the effects of Cancer and this is the first time that a collective approach to fundraising has been undertaken by the league.
All clubs have agreed to run one fund raiser before the main event while there are sponsor ship cards available to all participants.
The primary idea is to raise funds for a cause which is so common to alot of people and there will be approximately one hundred people participating between the walkers and the cycle.
The recreational cyclists will leave Greencastle FC at 9am on Saturday morning while the club cyclists will depart at 10am and their route will take them into Moville , Gleneely, Carn, Clonmany, Drumfries and ending at Maginn Park.
Meanwhile the walkers will leave QPS football pitch at 9am and travel via Grainne’s Gap into Tullydish and then into Maginn Park.
The cyclists are expected to arrive at 12 noon while the walkers will be there at 1pm approx.
The league would like to thank Peter McLaughlin of Donegal Signs for sponsoring the big signs dotted around the peninsula over the last two weeks and for the t shirts.
Also a big word of thanks to Kieran Eccles and the North Pole Cycling club for thier invaluable help and assistance.
Refreshments and shower facilities will be available at Maginn Park and anyone interested in helping out on the day are more than welcome.
