Football clubs up and down the peninsula have been hard at work over the last number of weeks and in some cases months in preparation for the upcoming season which will kick off with the Clubman Shirts League Cup this weekend.
Holders Glengad will open the campaign with a home tie against promoted Illies and Shane Byrne will expect his side to come away with three points from the opening weekend.
Glengad and Aileach will be expected to advance from this group although both Illies and Greencastle will not be easy beat.
The toughest group of all contains Moville, Culdaff, Buncrana, QPS and Cockhill Youths.
Hugh McGonigle’s Hearts will take on QPS at the weekend in what looks like the game of the opening day and in this tough group, QPS and Moville are expected to progress.
Paul McLaughlin’s Clonmany have been handed what looks like the best possible draw with Dunree and Killea who were relegated last year being joined in the group by Carrowmenagh.
Clonmany look nailed on to progress while Dunree and Killea will fight it out for second place.
In the final group, it looks like Carn should progress, while both Rashenny and Redcastle will be looking to fight it out for second place along with Gleneely.
The league cup group games will be played over the next couple of weeks while the final will be played later in the season.
The new league season will begin in two weeks time and you can view a full preview of the Jackie Crossan Premier Division inside on pages 56/57.
