Cockhill are Ulster senior league champions for a third time

A hat-trick from the outstanding Garbhan Friel was enough to see Cockhill come back twice to see off Letterkenny Rovers last Sunday and ensure that the Ulster senior league trophy remains in Inishowen for another year at least.
If they can avoid defeat in their final league game of the season, Donal O’Brien’s men will have gone an incredible two full season’s unbeaten and the Cockhill manager believes that this stat alone mean’s his side will go down as one of the best ever at intermediate level in the county. “Last year people started talking about us being a good side after we went unbeaten and won the league but to do it again this year, I think it really drives home the fact that this is one of the best teams the Ulster senior league has ever had. O’Brien’s men will go in search of a second successive double when they take on Swilly Rovers this Saturday evening in the league cup final at Leckview Park. Look out for next week’s paper were we will have full coverage of the final.
