Donegal stars, Darach and Caolan, all smiles with results

Donegal GAA footballers Darach O’Connor and Caolan McGonagle were all smiles after collecting their Leaving Certificate results at Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana yesterday morning.
Darach, a member of Jim McGuinness’ senior panel, was pleasantly surprised with the outcome of his exams while Caolan, a county minor, was also delighted with his points tally.
It will be a busy end to the summer for both Buncrana youths, who hope to defeat Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-finals at Croke Park before taking up places at Dublin City University.
“I did much better than I thought; I got around thirty points more than I expected,” Darach revealed.
The talented forward, who scored 1-2 when Donegal defeated Antrim in the Ulster Championship in June, is hopeful of securing his first choice in the capital.
“I am planning to go to DCU to do biology and P.E. but I’m not sure if I have enough points yet; I have Galway for arts if I don’t make it. I’ll just have to wait for the offers now on Monday. Whatever happens, happens,” he added.
