‘The finality of her death was horrific’

Buncrana woman nominated for top award after sharing her loss of beloved grandmother
A Buncrana woman has been nominated for a top award after she spoke of the pain of losing ‘one of the most important people in her life’, her grandmother, earlier this year.
Buncrana blogger Nicola McLaughlin took to her Blog, The Sequin Cinderella, to write about the difficulties she experienced at the beginning of 2014, after the break-up of a long-term relationship and then the death of her beloved grandmother Jessica Doherty in February.
However, despite the difficulties of writing the piece for her Blog, Nicola’s entry ‘Life will be OK’ touched the hearts of people throughout the world and as a result, was nominated for a National Blog Award by her readers last week.
In what turned out to be her most read and responded to Blog entries of her career, as The Sequin Cinderella, after attracting 20,000 hits in the first week, ‘Life will be OK’ was nominated in the ‘Best Blog Post’ category of the Blog Awards
Nicola was blown away by the response ‘Life will be OK’ has.
“I was totally overwhelmed by peoples reaction,” said Nicola. “I had no idea that it would have such a great impact on my readers.
“It seemed to hit a nerve with so many people in many different ways and it was actually an honour that so many people contacted me to let me know how much it helped them.”
