‘We will need to improve on last weekend but I feel we can get the right result’ – McConnell

Davy McConnnell cutoutAlthough obviously delighted to have got the victory over local rivals Carn last weekend, Buncrana manager Davy McConnell admitted to the Inishowen Independent this week that his side will need a major improvement if they are to get past Naomh Columba this weekend.  “We didn’t play to our full potential last week but in any championship game you are always happy to take the result and move on. There is no doubt though that we will need a huge improvement if we are to get the right result on Sunday,” he explained.

McConnell is expecting a really tough test from their experienced opponents on Sunday.

“I expect them to come out flying to be honest with you. They are a very attack minded side who work very hard for each other. They are physically strong, break fast and play quick ball inside to their very dangerous full forward line so we know that we will have to be on top of our game to beat them,” said McConnell.

The Buncrana boss is hopeful that he will have a full panel to choose from on Sunday. “Darach O Connor and Joseph McGrory have slight knocks but fingers crossed we should have everyone available as I feel we will need them all on Sunday if we are to get the right result,” he said.
