Irish Water vehicle spotted in Buncrana

Water protesters in Inishowen are on high alert after an Irish Water ‘scout team’ was spotted in Buncrana.

It has been claimed that Irish Water’s arrival in Inishowen is now ‘imminent’ with meter installers set to ‘descend’ en masse upon Buncrana early next week.

Last month Irish Water sent letters of notification to residents in Inch and Buncrana.

Former Sinn Fein town councillor Ciaran McLaughlin said he is ‘one hundred per cent certain’ that he saw a van emblazoned with Irish Water logos in the Aghilly area of Buncrana early on Tuesday. There were also other reports locally of sightings.

Ciaran urged locals who do not wish to have meters installed outside their homes to ‘be on their guard’ over the coming days.
