Satanic graffiti found in churches

A NUMBER of Inishowen’s Catholic Churches have been vandalised with ‘precise satanic graffiti’ over the weekend, it has been revealed.

Churches in Bocan, Moville and Malin were targeted by at least one assailant, seemingly operating throughout the peninsula on Sunday afternoon.

It is understood that in each case the letters ‘666’ were written on the altar cloths inside the churches, along with a small satanic symbol of a triangle inside a circle.

The attack happened between 12.30pm and 7pm on Sunday.

Bocan Curate Rev. Dr. Jimmy McGrory said his sacristan opened the church on Monday morning before Mass to find the graffiti. He said she was ‘shocked’ to see the satanic markings on the altar cloths.

Rev. McGrory said they reported the incident to Gardaí. He urged any parishioners who might see anyone hanging around the Church not to approach them and instead call him or the Gardaí immediately.

It a similar attack on Sunday afternoon, the parish church in Moville town was also targeted. There are also unconfirmed reports that a church within the Malin parish was also targeted with the same type of graffiti.

However when contacted, Fr. Peter Devlin said he did not want to comment on the issue ‘at this time’.
