But we’ll probably only get €90,000 for two local projects

Inishowen is set to benefit from a new €10 million national town and village renewal scheme for rural Ireland.

And while the headline figure of €10 million looks impressive, there’s only €380,000 available for Donegal, with around €90,000 of that figure likely to end up here.

The €380,000 total must be used by Donegal County Council to support up to eight different projects in towns of less than 5,000 people.

Newtown councillor Paul Canning says the Inishowen county councillors will be pushing to ensure that the peninsula gets its fair share.
