INISHOWEN’S ferries have had a very successful summer, according to the local county councillors in the peninsula.
Both the Lough Swilly and Foyle Ferries will be coming to an end in the coming weeks, however speaking at the monthly meeting of the Inishowen Municipal District councillors said they ‘enjoyed a very successful year’.
Buncrana councillor Rena Donaghey said people were more than happy with the Lough Swilly Ferry this year. She said there was a very good word on the provider, adding that they were ‘very accommodating’ for large groups of cyclists or foot passengers.
Similarly Moville councillor Martin Farren said he has had great reports about the Foyle Ferry in Greencastle. He said they have had a ‘very successful year’.
Cllr. Farren said the current operator, Frazer Ferries, have a three year contract with the option of another two year rolling contract. He said they have ‘never had this in Greencastle before’ and it was great that people would be able to plan ahead for the coming season.
