Gardaí carry out ‘extensive enquires’ after child approached in Burnfoot



GARDAÍ are appealing for the public’s assistance in investigating what has been described as a ‘suspicious approach’ to a young child at Burnfoot

A young boy was allegedly approached and spoken to by a man in blue coloured jeep type vehicle around 3.30pm last Wednesday afternoon.

The seven-year-old boy, who is understood to have been getting off the school bus at the time, was spoken to and allegedly offered sweets by a man in the blue jeep.

Superintendent Eugene McGovern said extensive investigations have already been carried out in the Burnfoot area following the report last Wednesday, September 21.

He said they have carried out door-to-door investigations and local enquiries as well as examining CCTV from the area. He said in cases such as these extensive investigations take place in case there is a genuine threat to a child.
