Inishowen Gardaí are appealing for information after a ‘terrifying’ weekend armed robbery left a local family badly shaken and hospitalised.
Three men, armed with weapons described as ‘retractable batons’, targeted Bradley’s filling station in Fahan on Sunday evening, attacking the owner and his wife before making off with a ‘small amount of property’.
The trio, described as being aged in their late teens or early twenties, drove into Bradley’s forecourt in a grey Nissan Almera car shortly before 9pm.
They leapt out of the car and struck owner James Bradley, who had been outside preparing to close up, on the back of the head, before showering his wife Brid with broken glass after smashing a shop window.
Both James and Brid were rushed to hospital by ambulance following the ordeal, while the couple’s seventeen-year-old daughter, Patricia, who was also in the shop at the time, was treated in hospital for shock.
The gang fled in the direction of Derry.
