Inaugural Eddie Fullerton lecture a ‘huge success’

Inishowen Sinn Fein county councillor Jack Murray has described the first ever Eddie Fullerton memorial lecture as a huge success, with hundreds in attendance.
The lecture, which took place in Buncrana’s Inishowen Gateway Hotel on Saturday, was held to mark the 25th anniversary of the murder of Cllr Eddie Fullerton, who was gunned down at his Cockhill home on May 25, 1991.
Cllr Fullerton has served for twelve years as a county councillor, during which time he built up a reputation as one of the hardest working politicians in the county.
Guest speakers at the weekend lecture were Dr Emmett O’Connor, senior lecturer in history at the Ulster University and New Jersey Professor Breandán Mac Suibhne.
Cllr Murray said the large crowd at the event reflected the esteem in which Eddie had been held.
“I am delighted that hundreds of people took the time to come to our event, and to pay tribute to Cllr Eddie Fullerton.”
“Our esteemed speakers delved into subjects which were close to Eddie’s heart and engaged the audience throughout. It was an extremely enjoyable and informative event.”
