As Britain says it will strongly control its borders with the EU
Locals are being urged to attend a weekend protest against the potential return of borders here following Britain’s decision to quit the European Union.
The demonstration has been organised by a lobby group called Border Communities Against Brexit and will take place in Bridgend this Saturday, October 8 at 3pm.
The BCAB group says its aim is to ‘respect the remain vote’, after almost 56 per cent of the North’s electorate voted to stay in the EU during the June 23 referendum.
Their call comes after British Prime Minister Theresa May issued a strong statement, making it clear that Britain would insist on controlling its borders against possible EU immigration.
“Let me be clear, we are not leaving the European Union only to give up control of immigration again,” she said at the weekend.
