MALIN HEAD has been added to the council gritting route for 2016, it has been revealed.

Donegal County Council has confirmed that they will grit as far as Malin Head Coast Guard station this year after omitting it from the winter maintenance programme for a number of years, taking in one of Inishowen’s biggest employers, Forward Emphasis.

Forward Emphasis have been campaigning for two years to have the road to Malin Head included in the gritting route.

Marian Collins, Forward Emphasis’ Administration and Facilities Manager said they are delighted that the road to their business can be gritted when the weather turns frosty.

“We have around 200 employees working here in Malin Head so it’s so important that the road will be treated with grit and salt to ensure that our employees can get to work every day,” said Marian.
